Alumni Ordination Feature: Randall Skeate ’20

Meet Randall Skeate (SJV ’20) from the Archdiocese of St. Paul & Minneapolis!
Most looking forward to about Diaconate Ordination?
The Lord has been preparing my heart to lay down my entire life for Him and His people and conform myself to Jesus Christ, the One who came to serve and not be served (Mt 20:28). Sharing in Jesus’ intense love for us excites me as I spend this next year serving others as a deacon, especially accompanying people in their joys and sufferings more deeply, baptizing children, and even witnessing and blessing marriages in the name of the Church.
How did SJV prepare you for this next step?
The gift of my four years of formation at SJV provided me the space to confidently approach the Lord in the midst of my uncertainties and inadequacies in responding to God’s call for my life. Cultivating the habit of living in the light of His love with my brother seminarians allowed those questions to be transformed into peace and hope as I keep learning how to surrender my own preferences and be surprised by God’s great plan.
Favorite Scripture Passage?
“If a man loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home in him.” (John 14:23)
Please pray for Randall as he prepares for Diaconate Ordination on May 11, 2024 and for all of our alumni who will be ordained this spring!
