What We Do

SJV forms young men in the human, intellectual, spiritual, and pastoral dimensions of formation, helping them to discern a potential call from God to the priesthood. Within the overall journey of seminary formation, SVJ accompanies men through the Propaedeutic and Discipleship stages.

Our formation program is founded upon the norms of the Program of Priestly Formation, 6th Edition from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, the Ratio Fundamentalis from the Dicastery for the Clergy, and Pastores Dabo Vobis, the Apostolic Exhortation of St. John Paul II.

"Having the propaedeutic stage set apart to grow in prayer and fraternity is invaluable. We hope our men will enter the discipleship stage ready for leadership roles as they take the next step in seminary formation. Sturdiness of character and relational prayer are the building blocks for them to move forward with confidence in God's call." -Fr. Jonathan Kelly, Rector
