Alumni Ordination Feature: Deacon Ryan Sustacek ’20

Meet Deacon Ryan Sustacek (SJV ’20) from the Archdiocese of St. Paul & Minneapolis!
Biggest anticipated part of Ordination Day?
Having my one of my biggest priestly mentors, Msgr. Steven Rohlfs, vest me in priestly vestments for the first time. He has been instrumental in my vocation.
Most looking forward to in the Priesthood?
Being with people and helping be a bridge to God’s love.
What do you miss the most from SJV?
Prayer in the chapel together… the walls of that room are dripping with prayer!
Currently reading?
“Priestly Fatherhood” by Fr. Jacques Philippe
How did SJV prepare you for what’s coming next?
SJV was a place of deep healing in the Lord’s love. We all have areas that aren’t heaven-ready, and SJV played a huge role in my life in bringing the areas of woundedness to the Divine Physician.
Favorite part of summer?
Being at the Lake with family… The Sustaceks are talkers, so there is usually never a dull moment!
Please pray for Deacon Sustacek as he prepares for Presbyteral Ordination on May 25, 2024 and for all of our alumni who will be ordained this spring!
